When Muhammad and his companion Abu Bakr made the religious pilgrimage from Mecca to Medina, they transformed the course of history in the Arabian Peninsula and in the world at large. The migration began what came to be the flourishing era of Muslim culture in the region and the advent of the expression of ideas that carry on to the modern day. The Hijra Pilgrimage served as a turning point in history by allowing Muhammad to strengthen his efforts in Medina, and ultimately led to the rise of Islamic culture that is evident to this day.
Essentially, Muhammad the person engaged in the event of the Hijra that served as a turning point in history by allowing for the progression of the novel idea of Islam to the surrounding region, forever changing the course of history.

According to Tafsir ibn Kathir, "it has been reported from Abu Sa'id that: 'Muhammad used to seek protection from the evil eyes of the jinn and mankind. But when [Surah An-Nas and accompanying Surah Al-Falaq] were revealed, he used them (for protection) and abandoned all else besides them.'" These verses would be some of those recited by Muhammad during the Hijra, and are still recited on a daily basis by the millions of Muslims around the world.
